The Chinese American Museum

Directions to the Chinese American Museum
at El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument

The Chinese American Museum (CAM) at El Pueblo Monument is easily reachable by any mode of transportation and via numerous access routes. The CAM site is within walking distance of a major rail station, many bus stops, several parking lots, and is surrounded by major state, interstate, and U.S. highways. It stands just southwest of the Los Angeles Chinatown, north of U.S. Highway 101, south of Cesar E. Chavez Avenue, and east of North Main Street. Please access the El Pueblo site map.

By Car

For those arriving by car, five parking lots are available. These can be entered from Main, Alameda, or Los Angeles Streets. Please access http://www.cityofla.org/ELP/park.htm for parking lot rates and addresses.

Visitors driving from the City's west side can take the Interstate 10 (Santa Monica Freeway) to the State Highway 110 (Harbor Freeway north), to U.S. Highway 101 (Santa Ana/San Bernardino Freeway) and exit on Broadway. Tourists coming from the south can take State Highway110 (Harbor Freeway north) and follow the same directions. Those from communities east of Los Angeles can take the Interstate10 (San Bernardino) or State Highway 60 (Pomona Freeway) to U.S. Highway 101 (Hollywood Freeway), exit at Alameda, continue west on the exit road (Arcadia Street), and turn right at Main Street to enter parking lots there.

By Bus

Visitors arriving by bus can choose from the many different routes that stop near the Museum. They can take any bus that goes to Main, Los Angeles, Arcadia, Alameda or Cesar Chavez Streets. The Big Blue Bus from the City of Santa Monica stops close by on Temple Street. Many other buses also stop at Union Station. The Dash, a minibus line connecting downtown Los Angeles, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, and El Pueblo, stops every ten minutes and only costs 25 cents.

By Train

CAM is located across the street from Union Station, a major regional transportation hub for Los Angeles County and an important local transportation center for the City of Los Angeles. Union Station provides rail transportation through Metrolink (the rail system serving commuters throughout Southern California), Amtrack (intercity rail connections from Los Angeles), the Metro Red Line (a subway that takes passengers under downtown Los Angeles), the Metro Blue Line (a light rail transit system that runs north-south from downtown Los Angeles to Long Beach), and the Metro Green Line (a light rail line running east-west through Los Angeles County).
