The Chinese American Museum

School Based Education Program

The Chinese American Museum’s (CAM) School-Based Education Program works to creatively and critically engage students with Chinese American experience, history, and culture while simultaneously encouraging them to explore their own. Students will learn about Chinese American immigration and labor history, geographic neighborhood development in Los Angeles, and family and community through Museum exhibits and hands-on workshops. CAM is the first Museum in Southern California dedicated to preserving and sharing the heritage and legacy of Chinese Americans. As such, the Museum strives to bring recognition to the over 150-year history of Chinese in the United States and Greater Los Angeles, as an integral part of the many diverse histories that make up the fabric of America.

Museum staff and/or docents will guide students through exhibits providing them with the opportunity to physically engage with Chinese American history and practices.
