|
Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 2:00pm at the Chinese American Museum The Chinese American Museum (CAM) is excited to announce a thought-provoking Artist Talk with our very own exhibit artist, Diana Shui-Iu Wong to close Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Join Diana as she discusses the meaning and inspiration behind her art, learn what motivates her to create such extravagant pieces and what her future artwork will look like. Admission is FREE and light refreshments will be served. Merging: The Art of Diana Shui-Iu Wong is an exhibit currently on now at the Chinese American Museum. Merging is a mid-career retrospective and features a collection of work that spans four decades, from Diana Wong’s early impressionistic portraits and landscapes to recent abstract compositions inspired by the Chinese philosophy of the I-Ching or The Book of Changes. A philosophy that is deeply rooted in Chinese culture and tradition, the use of I-Ching creates a powerful visual that demonstrates Wong's self-empowerment in her art making. Many of our visitors commented on Wong's use of colors that questions the relationship between peace and chaos. Diana is a renowned international artist and has numerous exhibitions in Asia. Her artwork is displayed in several places in Asia including the Hong Kong Museum of Art and Tokyo Disneyland Hilton Hotel. Come by and experience Merging before it closes on October 15, 2006 at Chinese American Museum! To RSVP or for more information, please call (213) 485-8567. The Chinese American Museum is located on El Pueblo
Historical Monument at Please see Exhibits for more information.
