The Friends of Chinese American
Museum is an established nonprofit organization at a critical
threshold of growth and expansion. FCAM is seeking an Executive
Director to provide strong leadership and vision to realize
a mission to foster deeper understanding and appreciation
of America’s diverse heritage through presentation of
its Chinese American heritage. The Friends of the Chinese
American Museum (“FCAM”) is the support organization
of the Museum.
The Executive Director is directly
accountable to the FCAM Board of Directors for demonstrated
results in organizational development, fundraising and management,
including nurturing and developing close external partnerships
with the City of Los Angeles and the Chinese American community.
Responsibilities will include non-profit administration with
a budget approximately $600,000.
Qualifications include a master’s
degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, such
as non-profit administration or business management, museum
studies, history, or Chinese American studies, and a minimum
of five years of non-profit administrative experience at the
management level. The individual will have the ability to
plan, implement, and achieve measurable fundraising goals
and will demonstrate a track record of success with prior
donor programs and foundation solicitations. Excellent English
writing and speaking skills are essential and Chinese language
skills are highly desirable. Superior organizational skills
are required. Familiarity in museum administration, exhibition
scheduling, and curatorial work is preferred. Salary and benefits
package are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Salary range: $70,000 to 90,000.
